Time to ply
Plying means taking two or more pieces of paper and gluing them together so they are stronger.
Most of our costumes will work just fine if you want to use computer paper only, however if you want a costume that lasts longer and looks a little neater, we recommend you either print it on card stock or ply computer paper to poster board.
What you’ll need:
Paper
Printer ink
Poster board (about 1 poster board per 7 sheets of paper in the costume)
Scissors (Poster board can be quite difficult for kid-sized scissors to cut through)
Glue
There’s a video on that.
Feel free to follow the step-by-step instructions below, or our video walkthrough.
Step 1
Gather your materials (listed above) and print out the costume pieces. If you need printing guidance check out our printing FAQ.
Step 2
Cut out all the individual pieces outside the lines. You can do this quickly, just be sure to not cut along the cut lines on the art, you will do that later in step 4.
Step 3
Glue all the pieces to one side of the poster board. Feel free to rotate them so you can fit as many pieces on board without any overlapping. Be sure only use a small amount of glue.
Step 4
Once the glue has dried, cut out all the pieces along the cut lines in the art.
Step 5
Extra credit time! To make building the costume easier, go ahead and pre-fold on all the fold lines.
Step 6
You’re ready to go. Follow the assembly instructions for your costume.
